It’s always exciting to try new food, attend a new event or visit a new place. This is especially true when on vacation or Jewish cruises, as you get to experience new things while on holiday. But for the people that keep kosher, the food question looms large on away trips. Though the Jewish community in Japan may be small, there are still a few kosher restaurants and activities you can try.

Chabad House, Tokyo

If you are planning to vacation in Tokyo, visiting a Chabad House is one of the best ways to experience Japanese culture. The Chabad Houses in Sengakuji and Omori offer a unique opportunity to see how Jews celebrate their holidays and explore the ways that Judaism has been integrated into Japanese society.

The Chabad House in Sengakuji is located near the temple of the same name and serves local Jews as well as tourists. It offers kosher food, prayer services (including Shabbat), and classes on Jewish traditions. It is also dedicated to providing educational opportunities for both Jews and non-Jews.

Chana’s Place

A great kosher restaurant in Tokyo is Chana’s Place at Beit Chabad in the Takanawa neighborhood in central Tokyo. The kosher meat that they use are all imported from America and the menu at Chana’s Place includes a wide variety of kosher dishes prepared by the chef who is knowledgeable about all things kosher. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options.

Tasting kosher food from the other side of the world isn’t just possible through a glatt kosher cruise. Even just traveling by yourself and doing your research, you can find delicious kosher meals even in countries like Japan!

Kosher Delica

Kosher Delica is a kosher food delivery service that serves the Tokyo area. It’s a great option for Jewish tourists who want to eat while they’re in Japan, but don’t want to deal with the logistics of finding kosher restaurants in Tokyo or having to cook for themselves every night.

Kosher Delica in Tokyo aims to serve all the kosher food needs of the Jewish community in Japan. Through the meticulous supervision of Rabbi Binyomin Y. Edery, all ingredients and meals are ensured to be kosher and are produced according to Jewish law.
